The commander was the famous French researcher Dr. Jean B. Charcot.
On this 16th September 1936, 40 people died, including Charcot, only one survived.

Maritime Malta, HMS "Hastings", 30th November 1838.
The figure comes from a painting by Charles von Brockorff, circa 1838.
It shows the entrance of Queen widow Adelaide aboard the HMS Hastings in the
Valletta Grand Harbor.
