52 YEARS OF WATERCRAFT PHILATELY NOW
AVAILABLE ON A NEW CD-ROM
A new CD-ROM, "Watercraft Philately on CD-ROM; Volumes 1-52", was released at the Unit meeting held on June 16
at the National Topical Stamp Show. The CD-ROM was described in the renewal forms that were sent to all members. The
CD-ROM includes all pages from the first 52 volumes of Watercraft Philately and two indexes for locating information on
named ships mentioned in those issues.
One index allows finding ships by name and the other allows searching by volume.
These indexes are still in the process of being edited. Updates, additions and corrections are posted on the Unit website. A link to the updates is on the home page.
A new type of index is also on the CD-ROM. It is in the form of a
database that is fully searchable and can be edited. Since this is the first such database that the Unit has issued, it is
somewhat experimental and future versions will depend on feedback from users.
The CD-ROM is usable on both Windows and Apple computers. It sells for $10 to Unit members and $20 to non-Unit
members postpaid in the US and Canada. Overseas postage is an additional $2.50. The CD-ROM is available from the Unit Secretary.
